The Happiest Place on Earth

Last Thursday we decided to surprise the kids and take them to Disneyland. We have been collecting and saving Disney gift cards for the last two years, so they knew a trip was coming but they did not know when. We woke them up for school on Thursday – both Greg and I wearing Mickey Mouse t-shirts. ¬†We asked them if they wanted to go to school OR would they rather go to Disneyland? Then we handed them their Mickey Mouse shirts. They were confused and Kat said something like “I want to believe you but I’m not sure if I trust that it’s true” ha ha! Anyway, it was true and we spent three fun days at Disneyland and California Adventure. It’s been awhile since I’ve been there and I’ve never been so fully aware of my aging self until I walked off the California Screamin’ rollercoaster. The kids were brave and did most of the rides (although some of us regretted riding the Tower of Terror and there may have been a couple of tears). The grandparents came along with us and that made the trip even better. I remember as a kid my parents taking us to Disneyland quite often, and it brings me so much joy to pass these moments onto my own kids.

And as if a surprise Disneyland vacation isn’t enough to rock your world as a child, we decided to pick up a puppy from Venice Rescue on our last day there. How can we ever top this? I’m afraid it’s all downhill from here kids.
