Last weekend we took our first trip to the Phoenix Children’s Museum. It was so much fun that we left with crying kids because they did not want to leave. First let me say, if you have more than two kids it’s best to have another parent with you. Luckily Greg went along with me because not only did I have the kids but also my camera, which I protect like it’s another kid. Secondly, flip flops are not a good choice of footwear, especially if you are going to go into the ‘Climber’ which happened to be Kat and Brody’s favorite spot.
What is the Climber? It’s this enormous contraption:
It’s a lot of fun inside, with slanted walk ways, tunnels and fun things to climb up and down. It’s all enclosed (cage-like) so there isn’t really a risk of falling. There is, however, a risk of getting lost inside. Which Kat did. Luckily there are attendants nearby who can sort of guide and direct you.
Even Quinn made her way into the climber. She liked it just as much as Kat and Brody and wanted to play with the big kids.
Up on the second and third floors there were even more things to do. There was a ‘noodle’ maze, a reading corner, a painting and craft area, car racing, a grocery store, a place to stop and eat lunch, and much more.
Brody took a quick break here, he liked this spot.
My favorite spot was the baby area. It was really peaceful and calm, only kids under three are allowed (hence the peaceful and calm feeling). And I think there was actually a soundtrack of crickets chirping. Or maybe I was just so happy to be in a quiet spot that I imagined it. I didn’t want to leave.
All in all, it was a fun day for the kids (and parents too). And we did leave with a membership. Hopefully it will be a cool place to get away this summer. I’m looking forward to going back!
