207 Miles between poverty and hope

Have you ever known a really good person and you wished you were more like them? Either that or you felt like a huge lump on the log because you weren’t like them? That is how I feel about my friend Erin and her husband Ian. They are really good people that want to make a difference in other peoples lives. Over a year ago Ian started 207. 207 is how many miles it is between our church and the barrios of Rocky Point Mexico. On Friday morning 16 guys (and gal) left CCV to ride to Rocky Point and to raise money for the poverty stricken families living there. I think it’s an amazing thing they are doing and what a huge blessing they are to many people. I have only been to Rocky Point once in my life and it is eye opening to see the way other people live. It’s sad how the talk here is how bad the economy has become, how the housing market is unrecoverable, unemployment is at its highest, etc. Yet if you see how the other half of the world is living you would see it is paradise living here in America. It’s clear that Ian and Erin, and all the riders, love the Lord and are doing what they are called to do to make a difference. If you’d like to read more about 207 you can read it here. Here are just a few pictures on Friday morning as all the riders got ready to begin the trip. I wish I could have been there on the other end when they arrived. I heard 9 locals joined them when they got to Rocky Point.

Cindy This is so inspirational, what a worthy event to photograph. I think it takes courage to try and change/help those in need who are closer to home.

Vicki Great post. Cool photos. Spot on description of Erin and Ian. It’s so awesome that they’ve found a unique way of giving.

Erin JOANNA- thank you for the kind words. and THANK YOU for the amazing photos. I love that you found a way to give of your time and talents to make this weekend a success. It’s because of people like you giving of themselves that 207 is successful and lives are changed.
